The star of Inter Miami, Luis Suárez, spent $11.5 million on a waterfront home close to teammate Lionel Messi in the gated Bay Colony neighbourhood of Fort Lauderdale.
Documents indicate that Suárez and his spouse, Sofia Balbi, purchased the home at 10 Compass Point through an off-market transaction from Bret and Jamie Macy. According to his LinkedIn profile, Bret Macy works as a platform general manager at Lithia & Driveway, a publicly traded network of auto dealerships located in Medford, Oregon.
Most people agree that Suárez is among the best attackers of his generation. The Uruguayan began his professional career with Montevideo’s Club Nacional de Football about two decades ago. He was Messi’s teammate at FC Barcelona from 2014 to 2020. According to reports that were made public, he signed a contract with Inter Miami of Major League Soccer in late December, thus he is now back together.
In Fort Lauderdale, the teammates will also be neighbours. In September, Messi paid $10.8 million for a waterfront estate at 91 Compass Lane in Bay Colony. This purchase came after months of circulating rumours about the soccer player’s intended family home. Unexpectedly, Messi, Suárez, and other Inter Miami players have concentrated their purchases in Bay Colony and Sea Ranch Lakes, two less well-known gated neighbourhoods. Both are near the esteemed Pine Crest School and have round-the-clock security.
According to property records, the pair frequently makes real estate investments in Broward County. According to public records, they paid $365,000 for an apartment in Fort Lauderdale in 2019 and $7.3 million earlier this month for a home in Coral Ridge Country Club.
Other notable transactions in Fort Lauderdale include the $9 million sale of a waterfront home to a logistics executive by Antonio Neri, CEO of Hewlett Packard Enterprises. In 2021, Neri paid $8.5 million for the home.
